The extended cab has rear access doors that are hinged at the rear but that open to 170 degrees to provide full access to the rear seating area. the standard cab can be outfitted with a standard (6-foot, 6-inch) or long (8-foot) beds. All of this allows such things as reducing the gap between the truck bed and passenger compartment and between fenders and bumpers. All-new, more responsive and more responsible. introductionwhether families with children, empty-nest couples with active lifestyles or individuals who simply have cargo to carry securely or trailers to tow, some people really do need the all-weather practicality provided by a full-size sport utility vehicle. Since 2001, the chevy tahoe has been the best-selling vehicle in the category, accounting annually for more than 25 percent of all full-size suv registrations in the united states. for the 2007 model year, chevrolet rolls out its all-new and next-generation tahoe, a vehicle that promises to be updated and improved in seemingly every aspect, including fuel economy. All three rows offer spacious seating. Even adults can sit in the third row, but most we wouldn't want to spend a lot of time back there. out on the road, the new tahoe feels taut for a full-size suv, and the steering is precise and responsive. The brakes are responsive and smooth. At highway speeds the tahoe is quiet and comfortable. With power provided by one of two v8 engines, the tahoe can tow as much as 7700 pounds. chevrolet promises that the new tahoe models will carry more standard equipment, with several new options, yet will be priced at or below comparable 2006 models, which range from less than $37,000 to around $50,000, depending on the model and its specific content. lineupthe all-new 2007 chevy tahoe is available in three versions, ls, lt and ltz. the standard engine is a 290-hp 4. 8-liter v8. The new tahoe is built on a new and wider frame. As a result, the front track (the area spanned by the front wheels) has increased by more than three inches and the rear track has grown by an inch, resulting in a wider, stronger-looking stance. We sat in the third-row seats and found that adults fit, though they might not want to ride back there for much longer than a short drive from the office to lunch. The tahoe we tested was equipped with the two-person third-row seat setup that comprises two separate seats, each with own cup holder and storage area. whether the third row seats two or three people, there are 16. 9 cubic feet of cargo space between the third-row seat back and the closed rear liftgate. even in its standard form, the tahoe's interior is comfortable and roomy, and that room can accommodate all sorts of optional equipment and accessories, from rear-seat dvd to bose audio to side curtain airbags, a navigation system and a sunroof. the 2007 chevy tahoe's more aerodynamic body not only cuts through the wind, but it reduces wind noise. With new acoustic dampening measures and better aerodynamics, the new tahoe is 20 percent quieter inside, according to chevrolet engineering tests. By that they mean that while the vehicle feels big inside, but has a taut feeling on the road so the driver doesn't necessarily feel like he or she is at the wheel of a full-size suv. that taut feeling starts with the new ladder-style frame that is nearly 50 percent stiffer overall and 90 percent stiffer in its forward section. As one gm engineer put it, although the new front end is only two inches longer, it provides the equivalent of 17 more inches of crush capacity in the event of a collision. Standard stabilitrak should enhance the driver's ability to avoid many accidents, but should they happen, side curtain airbags are available. The new tahoes are equipped with front seatbelt pretensioners that activate to hold the driver and front-seat passenger in proper position not only in a frontal crash, but also in a severe rear impact. Recently redesigned, with more refinement. introductionthe chevrolet equinox was redesigned for 2010, and the second-generation model has been a resounding success. Some people believe the second year of production is the sweet spot because they've ironed out all the bugs but it's still new. the equinox has pricing and features of a compact suv, but it's a little larger, and closer in size to a midsize suv. And the equinox comes with luxury and technology amenities not expected in its price class. A front-wheel-drive equinox gets an epa-estimated 22/32 mpg city/highway. So we recommend the standard 2. 4-liter engine. It is more carlike than the pre-2010 models, with less lean in turns. It's not sporty, but it's on par with its main competitors, including the honda cr-v and toyota rav4. We found that the equinox absorbs even sharp bumps without disrupting passenger comfort with either the standard 17-inch or available 18-inch wheels. inside, the equinox has an attractively designed interior. There are some nice amenities, including ice blue ambient lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, a hard-drive audio system, a dual-screen rear dvd entertainment system, and a power rear liftgate. The front seats are comfortable and supportive, and they have 10 inches of travel, so drivers of all sizes will fit. New for 2011 are bluetooth connectivity, a usb port and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls. All-wheel drive enhances stability in slippery conditions. walkaroundthe chevrolet equinox is priced and equipped to compete with compact suvs but it's larger than compact, smaller than midsize. Equinox uses the same theta architecture that underpins the gmc terrain. Theta has been updated since the first-generation equinox, and that's a good thing because the old model didn't handle very well. up front, equinox features chevrolet's signature two-tier grille with gold bowtie insignia. The headlights wrap around the front fenders. Air ducts sit below the headlights and house fog lights in chromed bezels that bisect the openings. The lower front fascia is charcoal-colored plastic and it has an air dam in the center. The ltz model and the 2lt with the chrome appearance package add metallic trim pieces to the lower portion of the air dam opening. The hood has three character lines. The hood is shorter than that of pre-2010 models because chevrolet moved the base of the windshield forward three inches, creating a more slippery shape. The equinox has a 0. 36 coefficient of drag. around the sides, the equinox has pronounced fender flares and a wheels-at-the-corners stance, especially up front. The roof features wraparound side glass at the rear and tinted rear and rear side windows. All but the equinox ls model has luggage side rails; they're charcoal on equinox lt models and they add chrome inserts on the equinox ltz and the equinox 2lt with the chrome appearance package. That package also adds chrome door handles and side mirrors. Seventeen-inch aluminum wheels are standard and 18- and 19-inch wheels are available. at the rear, the equinox has dual round taillights, a takeoff of the malibu design, and a roof spoiler. The tailgate opens upward, and a class-exclusive power, programmable tailgate is offered. Owners can program the tailgate to open to different heights so shorter drivers can reach it. Overall, the look is attractive. The ltz's additional chrome trim adds a touch of class, especially with the chromed 19-inch wheels. interiorchevrolet says the equinox interior was inspired by the interior of the successful malibu midsize sedan. While that may be true when it comes to aesthetics, it's not true in terms of execution. Instead, like the toyota rav4 and honda cr-v that chevrolet benchmarked when developing this vehicle, the equinox has hard plastic on the entirety of the dashboard, as well as on the center console and door panels. The ice blue ambient lighting is a delightful feature. Equinox ls models have it on the center stack surround and in the center console cupholders. Equinox lt models add it on the instrument panel and center console, and the equinox ltz gets it in the door handle recesses, in the footwells and in the door map pockets. The speedometer and tachometer feature white numbers and black backgrounds. They are set in large pods and in between are water temperature and fuel gauges, as well as a digital trip computer readout. The base interior has a storage cubby at the top of the center stack. When the navigation system is ordered, it sits in this spot. The controls on the center stack are grouped in a tight bunch, with the radio buttons up top and the climate controls at the bottom. With the navigation system, there are 43 buttons, dials and knobs. It's a bit less confusing without the navigation system, but it's going to take some getting used to. All of the controls are easy to reach, and the area is trimmed in a good-looking clear-coated silver-painted plastic. space is not a problem in the equinox. Cloth or leather, the front seats are comfortable and supportive. Gm obviously spent some money here. They are especially attractive in leather, with their two-tone coloring and contrast stitching. The front seats have 10 inches of travel and the steering wheel tilts and telescopes, so everyone from the very short to the very tall will be co.

2012 chevrolet silverado 1500 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. No question, the silverado is a great truck. The 2012 chevy silverado doesn't boast the latest design, but all the current full-size pickups are good and it mostly comes down to preference. Silverado is available in a wide range of sizes, engines, and capabilities. Most important: stabilitrak electronic stability control adds trailer sway control and hill-start assist. 2012 chevy silverado wt models now come standard with cruise control and a spare tire lock. Heated and cooled front seats and hdd navigation with xm radio and usb are available on the 2012 silverado ltz. 2012 silverado models get new colors and chrome trim changes. Silverado was last redesigned for 2007. the base engine is a 4. 3-liter v6 (195 hp/260 lb-ft of torque) with a 4-speed automatic, offered only on regular cabs and 2wd extended cab models with the standard bed. Likewise, the rear quarter panels are punctuated by large faired wheel wells. the rear view of the truck features stacked tail lights on either side of a tall tailgate that has a sculpted center section that mimics and inverts the shape of the fender flares. built on what general motors calls its gmt900 platform, the silverado shares much of its underpinnings with the tahoe suv, though the pickup gets a unique rear suspension and a frame section 245-percent stiffer than that of the suv. The current silverado chassis is far more rigid than that of the previous generation, which allowed the engineers to reduce the gaps between the truck bed and passenger compartment and between fenders and bumpers. This stiffer frame also allows suspension components to be designed for improved ride and handling characteristics as well as allowing enhanced aerodynamics and fuel efficiency. the front suspension uses coil-over shock absorbers and the rack-and-pinion steering gear design provides enhanced control and feedback. The silverado benefits from a rear axle design featuring shock absorbers mounted outboard and more upright for better dynamic control than that of the previous-generation models. interiorthe silverado wt, ls and lt come with what chevrolet calls the pure pickup interior while the ltz features a more luxurious interior. the pure pickup interior is more driver and work oriented, includes two glove boxes in the dashboard, one of them just about the right size to hold a pair of work gloves and a few small items, and a 40/20/40-split front bench seat with the center section of the seat back folding down to form a wide arm rest with lots of storage capacity. This interior features large switchgear controls and interior door handles designed to be easily manipulated even while wearing bulky gloves. the more luxury-oriented interior includes bucket seats with a permanent center console with 20 liters of storage capacity. The center stack puts ventilation and audio controls within easy site and reach of the front seat passenger. This version has a single glove box in the dash. headlights are more or less controlled by twisting a rotary knob on the dash to the left of the steering wheel. An identical knob to the right is used to switch between 2wd and 4wd. We found it's easy to switch to 4wd, while trying to switch off the headlights. xm satellite radio with current traffic conditions and bluetooth may be ordered, or alternately, onstar with destination download and turn-by-turn navigation. We like both. extended cab models feature stadium-style seating with an elevated view for those sitting in the second row. Both the extended cab and crew cab versions offer plenty of rear legroom. The rear-seat bottoms can be easily folded up to provide more room on the floor for cargo. It's a smooth, cohesive design with a central console that.
